Just by making 8.1 boot straight to desktop they were half way there.
10 will be 2000 pro + the tiles
The only thing missing in 8.1 pro is the classic theme. Took a bit of work on the registry to get that back (as I don't trust 3rd party stuff)

2000 was the most stable ever IMO. I could leave it running without restarting for 6 months at a time
