and does it look like it ever had a center inlay?

The only dovetail blanks that I know of from Borland's inventory were the green/orange and the brown/orange that were later sold at GGS. The pink/white in the same scan are really solid color chips with very wide edge inserts.

However... at least one of Borland's inlaid "commemoratives" that appeared to be pie chips were actually dovetails. Here's an example of one of the Castaways 5000's with a missing inlay that shows it's really a dovetail. It's possible that all of his commemoratives that appeared to be pie chips were actually dovetails. There are 8 others that fall in that category.

Could that be what your chip is? Is it also blank on the reverse?
