I recently started using iTunes Radio and often listen to the "60's Garage and Surf" channel. For some reason they play his band's stuff there a lot. I never know much of him, sort of dismissed it as 60 junk. But damn, they had a lot of really good stuff! Some deep psychedelic, great guitar playing...sorry to hear he is gone...
