Could that be a silk-screened white "A" rather than inlaid paper or plastic? It looks like the A is on top of the hot-stamp chip marking.

Also, all the die-cut inlay chips I have have a smooth over the inlay. This one appears to have a textured surface as would be the case of a marking applied over the hot stamped ARODIE molded chip.
