I am a Jeter fan as well. His career and statistics are awesome, and he will be a 1st round inductee into the Baseball HOF, no doubt. Some say he may be the first player to ever be inducted unanimously. I don't know if he deserves that (as no other player, including Ruth, Gerhig, etc. has), but he is an incredible player. Great role model, clean as a whistle, and more people like him are needed in every sport.

Jeter always has the reputation for rising to the occasion. I know there are several examples, but the one that comes to my mind is that his 3,000 hit was a homer. Was the game fixed? Who knows. However, it seemed to me like a bad "Afterschool Special" ending.

My only issue with him is the constant, excessive, expensive merchandising.
