Thanks for everyone's discussion on this, very enlightening. With the previous discussions around cashing in chips at the CCC in Trenton, I presumed that there was some law that required casinos to have a certain amount of cash on hand to redeem all outstanding chips (even if people had to do it in Trenton, years later).
But based on what people are saying, it is a case by case basis.
So some more questions:
- if someone buys Revel out of bankruptcy (either before they close or re-opens after they close) could they switch chips and post a redemption notice and say that they will not honor the old chips after a while?
- If they didn't HAVE to do it, why did Elsinor bother putting aside to cash in old chips?
- are Playboy chips the only chips you can cash in at Trenton? (maybe Atlantis too?)
