I think what you are seeing is difference in the registration of the red-ink pass through the printer. If you looked at a dozen chips, you'd probably see more differences in how the red 250 is placed on the inlay. Most collectors don't consider these different varieties, just process variations in the production of the chips.

The variations I was pointing out are the different surface on the inlay and the color of the inserts. These are due to different tooling used on the reorder from that used on the original and to a different color mixture in the clay on the reorder. These changes seem to be consistent within each variety and you don't see in-between results as you would if they were merely process variations.
