About three weeks ago our 8 year old 61" DLP TV started getting white dots on it meaning one of the chips was failing. They are available on Ebay for about $200. We decided on Tuesday to just get the chip and fix the TV. As I was driving to Tunica Wednesday morning I got about 20 minutes from home when I realized I didn't take a coat. They keep the casinos at about 60 degrees to keep the mosquitos at bay. I decided I was not driving back and then fighting the rush hour traffic thru Nashville. As I got close to Memphis I figured there was no way I was going to sit in a Poker room for 8 hours a day and freeze. So I just wanted a cheap coat or sweatshirt I could wear. I typed "Goodwill" into Mr. GPS and found that there was one just 3 miles off the freeway. I went there and got my $5.99 jacket and as I was walking out I saw this huge box sitting by the door. It said Vizio 80" TV on it and was the original shipping box. I talked to the manager and asked how they got it. She said they get TV's from Sam's Club all the time. The box was marked $1799 as is. She said she would sell it for $1549 if I was interested. After setting it up and seeing that it worked I just couldn't turn it down. Now comes the nuts part. I was driving my convertible to Tunica so how was I gonna get this 4' X 6" box home?? They said I had a few days to get it out of there so I said I would try to take it Friday when I got back from Tunica or Saturday if I had to drive home and get the van to pick it up. I wake up at 4 AM Thursday morning and can't get back to sleep thinking about how to get that TV home. By 6 AM I am at my car with a tape measure and designing a way to load it and tie it down with the top down. The plan should work okay IF it doesn't rain. I was going to have the 6' length go the width of the car and the 4' part go from the back of the front seat to the trunk. It worked perfectly and I got it home with no problems. I wanted to take a picture of it still on the car but my daughter was just leaving our house as I got home so I got her to help us lift the 135 pound box off my car and get it inside. The TV works great and the only problems are it only has 3 of the 3D glasses and part of the stand is apparently missing. I have extra glasses and I can get the stand for $75 or less on Ebay.
The TV is sitting on the floor until I get the rest of the stand. As you can see the screen is a little bigger than the 61" unit Cindy is about ready to disown me since she thinks the 61" set is too big. I can't wait for football to start. The players will be bigger than life.
