I have first hand knowledge about "Pawn stars" Tru-TV,,, out in Detroit---
They contacted Me! More than once - emails stating that they "Les" the owner was interested in my items listed on "Craigslist".
It is Not Scripted but carefully choreographed from start to finish, The items I was asked to bring in were Playboy related Glassware, $300.00 Vargas book & they fully vetted the items and me by having me send in photos of me and items for show pre- approval!!! all while stating they loved the things and leading a person to believe he wants them.. with many emails back and forth "banter" from Producers located in NYNY city..
Well My day on camera with my items was turned into a mini-laugh fest, with the pawn people saying jokes-- like "ewe I'm not touching that playboy stuff, Did your wife Know you had this dirty stuff, etc.. I also took in a Redwings Back to Back 8pc .999 silver Medallion Players set & they implied on camera that it was "fake", I brought them a Detroit River stuffed Mudpuppy salamander because "Les" likes stuffed animals for resale-- They implied that it was "not from the river and what proof do I have?
All their shock value reactions for TV at us ----and they didn't get a rise/reaction from me and my wife "we were dismayed, perplexed and dumfounded at their behavior" They politely said we don't have a market for your items .. without even an offer..took off our camera sound gear and we left.
Oh after the gear was off, and after filming I asked the owner "Les" to test my medallions on his 12,000 dollar metal analyzer he said sure - tested one and he said yes they're real and not to take anything less than $40.00 apiece for them...
All our filming is in the trash can or on the floor. because We didn't throw a hissy fit for the TV...
They kept contacting me for other stuff I listed on craigslist-- I said if you want to see it ya gotta cover my gas money, guess what - No way they won't pay..
