I generally appreciate PayPal, but they have had trouble for more than a year linking their account to eBay. At first, if you shipped the eBay account would still show "unshipped." At one time I could click on PayPal to ship an item and it went through automatically. Now I have to sign in to PayPal FROM PayPal to authorize payment to the post office!
In addition, I was reminded today that if I get a merchant order through PayPal (not through eBay, but through my own website) PP will not allow me to ship international first class mail - I have to choose the much more expensive Priority Mail or Express Mail. But I have the first class international option if I sell through eBay and receive payment through PayPal.
I will explore any new service that can get a foothold, simply because I want all my customers to have options.
Back to appearance: I think a lot of companies spend too much money on redesigns that do not make the website any easier to use. For example, when Facebook took the logout button off the main toolbar and required you to click on your name or something to get a drop-down menu, they didn't tell anyone. Like s#x, we had to learn it on the streets. The money spent on redesigns always reminds me of KMart's effort right before bankruptcy to redefine itself by moving the "mart" in its logo from outside the "K" to inside.
