Serious answer here.
I have considered walking there several times it since I usually stay downtown.
I always end up driving it and am glad I did.
It is not at all a good idea to walk it.
It is a very looong mile or so, you never know who you will run into, and it's going to be well over 100 degrees.

So from my experience as a tourist, I would vote a very strong no.
