or any other guide is just that a "guide". Prices are not cast in concrete but an educated guess at what an item might be worth. As with any item the price is determined by what the market will bear. When searching for a chip I want, the Chip Rack is my reference bible for what I might expect to pay. Most of the time I get the chip for below what the Chip Rack lists as value even with shipping.
It is also unjustified that there is a stranglehold in the hobby by a few at the top. I have never had a transaction that I regretted or met anyone that was unethical. Sure there are a few that want top dollar and won't budge but I don't have to buy from them. The club has been nothing but a positive experience for me. I guess it all depends on ones outlook and expectations.
