Was there ever any pushback from MLB? I know its images (like team logos) couldn't be used - they wouldn't allow any uses related to gaming.

MLB has loosened its rules now. Casino ads are commonplace at baseball stadiums. The family that owns the Detroit Tigers also has a big ownership interest in the Motor City Casino (although they had to put the stock in the wife's name).
