Robert, it depends on what you are looking for....
In Response To: Laughlin - worth a side trip? ()

I have been to Laughlin recently and walked from the Riverside allllllllll the way up to Harrahs!

There are no changes at Riverside. But the do have a bank of 3 machines that use $1 slot machine tokens. (Love that sound and enjoy seeing the empty racks at the base of the machines. vbg

Next up, the Aquarius, a sister property to the Stratosphere and Arizona Charlies people. The slot club counter is gone and cards are now available from the cashier cage.

Regency was next, slots-only!

Then the Edgewater and Colorado Belle. They are unchanged, except a restaurant was built between the two of them (closer to the Belle) and on the River Walk side.

Across the street is the Tropicana Express. They are not part of the Tropicana in Vegas. The train that ran around the property is gone and the tracks have been covered over or removed near the entrance.

The Pioneer is next, after crossing the street again. It is unchanged and has a lot of 25 cent (quarters) operated slot machines. Also $1 token machines.

From there, it's the Golden Nugget, which is unchanged.

Next up is an interesting River Walk stroll to the River Palms. Along the way are these very strange monkey statues that kids have broken over time. About twenty or so of them and none are 100%. Each is a life-size.

At the River Palms, the lower level casino floor is completely empty. Gaming is only on the floor above (street level from the street side and 2nd floor from River Walk side).

Next is a very long uphill walk to Harrah's, which is unchanged.

I did not make it to Avi.

As for the loop you wish to take.... I cannot imagine wanting to drive from the dam to Kingman and then head West to Laughlin. There is NOTHING along the way except the turn to the Sky View Bridge over the Grand Canyon, which is a long way aways! Also, you will see Alien Beef Jerky, a biker bar, wind powered toys and NOTHING ELSE!!!

If you want to see the Bridge, you cannot do it from the Bridge. There is no stopping and nothing to see but sky (walls are vey high). Suggest you leave Vegas, do the Clark Count Museum, stop at Rail Road Pass casino, go through old town Boulder (several good antique stores there) and then head to the dam. Along the way marvel at how low the lake is and pass the Hacienda (slots-only). Park at dam, walk out to see bridge, great view! Take dam tour if time permits, or just visit the museum/gallery area,

back-track a couple of miles towards Boulder, but take the turn to Laughlin. Marvel at flats area on right with off-road vehicles and wind sail vehicles. Also, the mirage like appearance of water is reflections from the solar panels farms, which are huge!!!

Searchlight is a speed trap, use caution. Searchlight casino is slots, but tables are open on weekends at night. I love the blackjack table that has a money drawer by the dealers waist to hold cash.

The casino at the gas station (Terrible's) is slots-only.

Head South to Cal-Nev-Ari, which is slots-only. On left will be turn off to Laughlin.

Return to Vegas via Avi.

However, when in Laughlin, cross bridge into Arizona and visit the several antique thrift stores.
