The club president, David Sarles, seems to support your interest in a vote on the subject of slabbing (in some forum). In his President's Letter on pg. 8 of the new magazine he writes:

"If a majority is against slabbing in our hobby, vote it out. A member should propose this and bring it to a vote. That's the fair thing to do."
