First everyone should chill out a bit and think this through. Secondly, There appears no fault or blame in this issue. Thirdly, if the ad meets the guidelines then there is no reason to deny its entry. If we (people opposed to the content) don’t like the ad content we have equal right to counter the ad with another ad opposing its contents, provided we too meet the guidelines. If we (the majority of the club) feel that the guidelines on advertising need revision then there are proper ways to remedy that as well. I don’t believe the club is bound by the First Amendment rule, so it can censor however it wants. That can be very dangerous to everyone if not applied fairly across the board.
Remedy: Let’s take out opposing ads (like Slabfree) and lobby for change in the advertising guidelines. If there is true warrant for change the majority will speak. The hard fact is until then, you don’t have to like it, just live with it and work toward changing it. Let’s not get heated amongst ourselves and take rash actions, let’s fix the problem. Am I seeing things correctly?
