Re: HACKING -one theory
In Response To: HACKING ()

We have all heard of spyware and malware which your computer can be injected with when you visit an "unfriendly" website. A small program can be downloaded to your computer at home which harvests your email address book and sends the email addresses to a hacker or group of hackers. It is likely that one of the people visiting this board has an infected computer and his/her email address book was obtained. Additionally, when the infected computer sends out an email, there can be an invisible malware program sent out with the email that infects the recipient's computer as well and there is a snowball effect.

Everybody needs a good antivirus program on their computer. If you have a Windows based computer and do not have antivirus software I recommend the free one available at avast.com . In addition to antivirus programs a good anti-spyware/malware program should be obtained. Additionally even if you have an antivirus program, they do not always catch incoming problems. Housecall is a free virus scanner available at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and can be run to check for malevolent software. You might want to check out this video that explains a bit about spyware and malware.

There are a lot of email "hacking" related videos on YouTube which are of value to both hackers and victims so search for email hacking there and you will find dozens of related videos.

This website is not related to the problem other than a member or members have an infected computer.
