In Response To: Losing my desire for hobby ()

Hello Hyden - and fellow chipper!

About 15 years ago, I didn't know it, but I was not the only person collecting chips! I had about 25 special chips - mostly fractionals because that was all I could afford. I was having a great time - it's all in the hunt: garage sales, auctions, storage unit purchases, swap meets, coin shows, want ads, antique stores, and hock shops. I totally enjoy the HUNT!!

Then, someone told me about a store out on Spring Mountain in Las Vegas that had nothing but chip collecting stuff. I mey a fellow named Ackman. His enthusiasm & my willingness to take his suggestion cost me $25.00. I bought my first real chip book, The Chip Rack. WOW- a new world opened up! There were others who shared my nuerotic taste!

Soon thereafter, I joined the CCGTCC, and take pride in: R7683 !

Since that time, I have learned the use of a computer, emailing, bought a scanner, posted 1 time on ebay- which I personally didn't care for, post chips and buy chips on the chip Board, joined a monthly club in Las Vegas I dearly miss now that I've moved, attended the national show in Vegas, actually progressed to sharing a table selling and buying chips @ the national show, will share a table this year. Last year at the show I did not break even! This year, I hope to break even.

I have met several individuals - now cherished friends - that i talk with several times a week! We network about our hobby! One friend is in Florida - I see him @ the convention 2 days a year. Another friend from Honolulu - one of the greatest guys in the world! Another great friend lives in Louisville. He sent me over $1000.00 in chips he wanted me to return for him in Vegas. He trusted me because I was a chipper! I sent him his money - no commission wanted although he offered!

I have sold chips to nearly every state and 4 other countries - Last week to a chipper in Australia! My total profit wasn't much but my passion rages on!

I sincerely hope you find a path in this hobby that works for you and brings you joy!

Sincerely,

Curt Squires R7683
