It's difficult to predict how any elected body will respond to your scenario.
I think the Board might take the position that they will take under consideration the results of any non-binding straw poll, since those in attendance do not represent the majority of club members.... and those members who are unable to attend the convention have not had an opportunity to be heard.
The history of past annual meetings have demonstrated that relatively few club members show up (well under 100). It's too easy to stack the deck with such little interest on various special interests agendas.... not just the slabbing issue ... but other issues as well.
These concerns should be addressed to the incoming Board members... a couple of whom have expressed their opinions on this matter in their pre-election campaign statements, so all is not dark and gloomy.
