Re: Now that's what I'm takin' about!!! TCR take n

Dang it...! I swear I answered this post an hour or so ago sad but apparently I didn't hit the post button sad .

It's interesting to read the old phone books, but the "casino" classification didn't appear in the yellow pages until sometime in the 1960's-1970's. In the older phone books casinos can be found in the yellow pages under the "club" "cocktail lounges" "restaurant" and "hotel" listings. And the "club" classification didn't always mean that the clubs had gambling... So sometimes the listings create more questions.

I wouldn't be opposed to scanning pertinent pages of phone books, but it can be tough to get good scans of the columns that are in the center of the book (the bound edge of the pages).

I counted and I think we have 61 phone books/city directories from Nevada, that range from 1939-2003! Some are Las Vegas, some are Reno, some have state-wide white pages with yellow pages from Reno, and some are small town. Just about a week ago we got 10 "new" (1956-1963) small town phone books from an ebay seller who came across a collection! grin

No...we didn't go to Ohio sad . Sounds like everyone had fun!

There's 3 emails headed your way... grin
