John, the ones you mention are from Uruguay, they

were initially being sold as Cuban, when the Cuban chips started to become scarce in Cuba.The first one to show up had the letters CHM (see below), thus they sold them as being from "Casino Havana Madrid" and sold a lot. Obviously somebody posted them in the chip guide and with that these chips had the "seal of approval" of the guide, and continue to sell. I have attempted several times to get them off the guide, but ...still there.

Another example of similar cases were chips from Monaco that had been sold as Cuban (see below) also with the seal of approval of the guide, too bad, that allowed the sellers to continue to sell these false chips.

BTW, do not blame the guide as they have to abide by what the collectors give them, but we have to find a way to help with that...

I am glad you identified the origin of the chips I showed before. I was sure they were French, but no idea where in France. They arrived in Cuba via Spain to the CE. The timing is also correct. We know they arrived between late 1890's to early 1900. So, they were probably brought to Cuba after the casino closed. Thanks for the help/
