I was told not to take pictures in casinos because you never know if people might be out with people they were not supposed to be with (people cheating on their spouses). I would guess that some people did not want people to know they gambled as well. The casino, of course, would want to keep it quiet if it meant people would feel comfortable coming to the casino to gamble without fear of being discovered. I have wondered why this policy changed, actually. I know when the Desert Inn closed, photos were still not allowed. I was there 3 days before it closed and they told me that if I wanted to take some pictures, no one was going to stop me. There were only 3 other customers in the casino at the time. The pictures did not come out very well, but you can get the idea what it looked like inside, at the end.
