I basically agree - they are hoping you will forget and allow a month at a time to be added to your credit card.
I'm not sure if it's as big a problem these days with websites and e-mail, but in the pre-internet days I signed up for something that required a telephone call to cancel, and the number I had to call was always busy. I am sure it was rigged to be that way, so I went through my credit card company instead. But putting a customer through that labor-intensive ordeal is deceitful.
