TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CASINO CHIP & GAMING TOKEN COLLECTORS CLUB, INC:
I am pleased to present my bona fides in support of my re-election for the Vice-Presidency of the . I have been a member of the since 2001. My wife, Christine, and I were the first husband and wife life members. For the past 13 years, we have collected casino memorabilia and our collection concentrates mainly on $1 Nevada chips. I also sell casino memorabilia on eBay as “onenevadadollar.” Christine and I retired from Chicago in 2008 and relocated to Las Vegas, NV. Every day, we wake up and say, “It’s another beautiful day in paradise!”
From 2011 to the present, I have been honored to be your Vice-President. The official duties for the Vice-President are: to represent the Club when the President is unable to do so; to monitor the Chip & Token Report (but this function has traditionally been fulfilled by members posting on “thechipboard”); and, to perform special assignments (which covers just about everything else, including the complaint department)!
Here is a short summary of what I have been doing on behalf of the both in and outside of my current official duties:
• From 2007 to 2011, I was the Education Director for the seminars that were held at the national convention in June in Las Vegas.
• From 2007 to the present day, I produce the press releases for the . These take the form of notices of speakers, major accomplishments of the Club and almost any other item I can make into a press release so the Club’s name is out there!
• In August 2009, I initiated our Club’s membership on eBay. We have had a presence since then and, although not yet as successful as we anticipate it will be, we have a brochure and a membership offering which to date has been viewed by 486 people.
• In early 2010, I initiated our Club’s membership into PayPal which is now the way our Club receives most of its payments for many of our activities and services. We also opted into the PayPal charity system. Since early in 2010, we have been offering sellers the opportunity to participate in eBay “Giving Works” which allows sellers the possibility of making donations to the .
• Like many of you, I have tirelessly campaigned to expand our membership. Recently, on behalf of our Club, I concluded a pilot campaign for new members using inventory from previous conventions that were sitting unsold for a very long time. This allowed us to use resources that were untapped and made some head-way in reducing our stored inventory!
Perhaps one of my most satisfying accomplishments has been the publication of three articles that I authored in the “JOURNAL OF ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES.” These articles were devoted to collecting casino memorabilia. They were posted on the chipboard and I’ve included the URL’s here for your perusal. Paste them into your web browser!
My goals for the next two years are pretty straight forward:
• I will continue to perform my official duties with enthusiasm, care and integrity.
• I will work diligently to promote our Club in any and all venues.
• I will work for the betterment of our hobby.
• I will push for more ways to attract new members.
• I will work to find ways to make our Club more inclusive and more meaningful to our members.
I hope that when the time comes for you to mark your ballot, you will be happy to mark it next to my name: Sheldon Smith. Thank you!
