We just spent a week in Nevada -- renting from Budget at McCarran Airport a mid-sized car and traveling to Laughlin and southward to Lake Havasu. Then through Arizona and back to Vegas. The entire drive in, drive out cost not including fuel was $272 for seven days. It was own insurance, one driver, bright red midsized. That's $38 a day. Our booking was through American Airlines (not necessary to have a flight reservation with AA), and cost was half of what Budget offered on their website. I am not sure if you can get rates that low in Florida on less than a week booking, but worth a try. Hope this helps. Also, we have booked through major hotel chains on Florida rentals for a better rate.
