First ever Chips from Papua New Guinea - FS

Hello all,

I'm currently working in Papua New Guinea, and I've started a pretty healthy live poker game that runs at least once a week. I decided to have chips made up, much like I did for the 'Kabul Gaming Board' when I was in Afghanistan.

I used the expert assistance from David Spragg, and we came up with a design and a chip order of what I believe is the first 'semi-official' poker chip used in Papua New Guinea. I'm not sure if you would classify these as an 'illegal' (we don't have a gaming licence, but we do play at a local 'country club' in public view, and accept new players from anyone who is observing.) or some other category of chip. We are the only non-private card game in the country, with the only other gambling available being some off-track horse betting, and 'poker machines' (slots).

It is a two-sided chip, incorporating the PNG flag, an image of a Highlander woman on one side, and an Asaro 'Mud Man' on the other. Denominated in Kina, which is approximately 2 Kina to the USD.

There are two series:

The Chips pictured in the top row and the 2.50 Kina 'Snapper' are 'live' cash game chips. They have darker colours and a different edge pattern (with the values printed) for easy discrimination at the tables.

These are made in extremely limited quantities - 300 each of the 1K, 5K, 200 each of the 'Snapper', the 25 Kina, and 100 Kina, and only 100 of the 500 Kina. I have no plans to increase this production until the game grows to the size where I need more.

The second row are the chips I had produced for 'collectors' and the players, to buy as souvenirs and momentoes. They have different coloration to the cash game series, and have edge spotting of 'PNG' surrounded by a diamond on either side.

Production on the fantasy chips currently is limited to 1200X1K, 1200X5K, 600X25K, 300X100K, 300X500K. If I am able to sell out these sets and have interest in more, I would re-print the 'fantasy' series.

Of potential interest to collectors of 'Snappers' - the only one made is our cash game chip, and there are only 200 in existence.

If anyone would like examples, the prices are as follows:

For Cash game series:

K1, K2.50, K5, K25 are available for $3 USD each or $10 for the set of 4. (I'm not selling any cash game chips in K100 or K500 value, in case they somehow get reintroduced to my game. Unlikely, but I'm not willing to 'eat' it if this happens, since I bankroll the game.)

For the 'Fantasy' series, $2 per chip no matter the denomination, or $1.50 each if you take 10 or more, mixed denoms.

As I am currently physically located in PNG, shipping will be at actual cost. Roughly $5 USD for a package containing 1 - 20 chips or so. (Postage is expensive here.)

If anyone would like a full playable set of the 'Fantasy' series, send me an Email and we can discuss pricing and the most cost-effective way to ship them to you.
