G&D Test Notes from Jim Follis

Yes, it’s good to have friends, friends like Jim Follis. I went to my mail box today and found a Christmas Surprise. It was a pair of ATM Test notes from Giesecke & Devrient (G&D). Thank You Jim!! G&D is headquartered in Munich Germany and they have been in business since the 1850’s, supplying banknotes, banknote paper, and a host of other banking supplies like Smart Cards. G&D is not seen much in the U.S. other than banking machines such as ATM’s. Most machines are Diebold, Thomas de La Rue, or a long list of others. These test notes are for testing the delivery system of the ATM. However they are printed on banknote paper. As a side note the software that runs most all ATMs is Microsoft Windows. Ever wonder about inputting codes on the keyboard to override the security and have it spit out money or add amounts to your account? I won’t say if it is possible.
G&D prints currency for Armenia, Congo, Croatia, and Lithuania, just to name a few.
