Everyone knows about WLS radio in Chicago, but...did you know that they started broadcasting in 1924, owned by Sears and Roebuck (to reach their lucrative farming market)? The call letters WLS stands for "World's Largest Store." (had to learn that back in my radio days - WGN was owned by Chicago Tribune = World's Greatest Newspaper). And so on. Chicago's WCFL, anyone?
