Michael, an interesting observation. A question...

Recognizing that it was 20 years ago, do you recall if they were sold as used casino decks, or advertising decks from the Golden Nugget? The deck that just sold was a USPCC, Bee deck in a linen finish deck that under magnifications, looks like any other Bee linen finished deck.

Turns out that, other than colors, there are two versions of these gold ink embellished decks. The difference being the wording that appears below "GOLDEN NUGGET". One example is, "Hotel Casino" the other is "Gambling Hall and Rooming House".

There is also a 3rd similar version of these decks, which uses 7 different flat colors (no gold flourishes) and under GOLDEN NUGGET only "Gambling Hall" is used. These are also USPCC, Bee decks, but not in a linen finish. In fact, again, under magnification, these cards have a very fine, dimpled texture.

As for decks being sold at retail stores, I have seen many casino-used decks being sold at the 99 cent stores in Vegas. Talk about a consumable product! vbg
