You just never know when dealing with people you do not know. Some people will offer 10% of value just to see what you lowest price really is and be happy if you counter offer at 50%.

I was at a yard/estate sale yesterday. The guy told me that this was the fourth weekend that they had the sale and that everything was pretty much cleaned out. OK - that tells me that anything left is probably garbage or just not wanted my most people. He had a small meat slicer that I was interested in and he said it was $5. I asked if he would take $3. His reply? It is not for sale and the sale is done for today so get out. HUH???? I would have even paid him the $5 but after that I just left. In some countries they are insulted if you do not bargain with them. And normally that is expected here also. But like I said - you just never know.
