The point is if we are going to try to restrict the volunteers who are working to create this great reference with a lot of "permission"requirements, they may just say to heck with it. Particularly if there could conceivably be legal recourse against the person who actually put it in the database.
Look at what the crazys in California are trying to do now with houses painted with lead paint decades ago. They want to sue the paint makers to pay for removing all the old paint and replacing it with "green" paint. The precedents are there; look at asbestos, hot coffee, and oily ducks in the Gulf .
