"Is it possible that the entity started, in 1954, as the Tahoe Plaza...Changed to the Tahoe Palace, maybe with new owners, in 1956...maybe went bankrupt or something in 1959...then went back to the original owners, and back to the Tahoe Plaza name, in 1959...which could have triggered the new chip order in April of 1959...??? (We need Gene's team!!!!! grin )"
Hi Pam, i think you may be on to something here. Following along your lines, but perhaps the original owners of the Plaza opened up a new Tahoe Plaza in a different location after Harrah's bought out old the Tahoe Palace in '59? Just a wild guess, but who knows?
It is interesting to see that that there is more than one reference in your notes about the Plaza Club being in the same location as the Circus Room and Barney's. I don't know Tahoe that well, but I didn't think those two casino's were in the same location as the Tahoe Plaza/Palace? Too bad there are no actual addresses associated with those old clubs. All say Hwy 50 or on the Eastside of Hwy 50 in Fuller's Index.
Per Fuller's Index, it lists the Circus Room as 7-1-52 to 1960 (just a year listed, no month or date) and Barney's Club from 5-26-61 to 11-27-67. Not sure why only 1960 was only listed, but there is a 1+ year gap and it seems to fit. Now to find proof, that's the hard part.
It's a mystery but it sure is fun!
