Although you think it seems unlikely, I would say that there is a 100% chance that either your dates are off or that there were two separate establishments.
First, here is the manufacturer's card:
I have become very familiar with Burt's cards and I can tell you that they kept meticulous records. This chip was absolutely ordered in 1959.
Add to that the fact the the earliest known inlaid Christy and Jones chip was manufactured in 1958 and this pretty much discounts the notion that the Burt card has an incorrect date on it.
And speaking of meticulous, let's not forget that Harvey Fuller kept very detailed records. He has the two casinos coexisting for several years... the Tahoe Plaza from 1954 to 1961 and the Tahoe Palace from 1956 to 1959. This would have been a pretty egregious mistake for him to make. The dates reflected in the price guides, including The Chip Rack and also The Gaming Table are reflective of Mr. Fuller's records.
I think that we've accomplished little, so far, in revising what is reflected currently in the guides.
