definitely try the old scanner.

Don't tell anyone, but I had office 2003 on our old computer. It wasn't supposed to be compatible with Windows 8, but it works just fine (We have a newer version of office at work, but I get confused by all the extra stuff it does...or it could do if I knew how to use it. I don't know how, and 2003 suits me just fine )
