Cindy and the kids went to enter a beauty pageant at Opryland this weekend so I am baching it. I woke up very early so I figured why not try a few yard sales to see if there is anything out there. I get my local sales from a website that gives me all of the sales on Craigslist within 10 miles of my house. One of the sales advertised jewelry and started at 7 AM so I figured I would head there first. It was quite a distance from my house and I saw a few other sales along the way but figured I could catch them on the way back. I got to the sale a little before 7AM and there were a few people already there. They had a large display of jewelry and I managed to pull a few good items, including one pair of 10K earrings from the pile. As I am getting ready to leave, the operator of the sale stars unloading large bags of jewelry and it is almost all good stuff. I asked how much some was and she was quoting $2 or $3 each. After a while I stopped even looking at every piece. If there was one good piece in a box I just grabbed the whole box. While there were one or two other people looking at the jewelry they were not looking for gold and silver just something to wear. The scan shows the good stuff I got. There was also a pretty large bag of junk jewelry, probably enough that I can sell it at my yard sale and recover the cost of the whole lot I got today. In the scan the top row is 14K (plus the $5 gold piece in the large ring), the second row is 10K and the rest is all sterling. I found 7 grams of 10K, 29Grams of 14K and 59 grams of Sterling. I figure that at todays prices there is about $1100 in metal value there. Surely one of my best finds ever! It is days like this that keep me out there looking and don't forget that the fun is in the hunt.
