Here are some of the half dollar tokens that were minted in the 1960's when the silver US halves were disappearing. Even the 40% halves the US Mint was making starting in 1965 were being hoarded, so along with dollar tokens, the casinos were authorized to make half dollar tokens for private use.
As I understand it, permission to use the halves was withdrawn before they were delivered. The casinos still got some, but they weren't used on the tables or slots. They were also incuded in the collector sets that the mint sold.
Here are 20 of them, all uncirculated. Most are dated 1967, with two dated 1969. One of these is still in the card as delivered by the mint; the other is not in a card but appears to also be Proof (no edge reeding). There is also one sample made by the mint to demonstrate what the halves would look like. It is marked Image Area and is a generic design. The '69 Harolds Club is the only one in the group that is not brass.
Your choice for $3 each, or all 20 for $50. Shipping is $2 for any number of tokens.
