I read that article when it first came out. And I still enjoy reading it everytime I happen to stumble across it.
I have spent a lot of time studying Negro League Baseball because I believe some of the best players in baseball never got the chance to play in the "Major League". Men like Josh Gibson, Oscar Charleston, Cool Papa Bell & Pop Lloyd (to name the very best of the very very best) spent the waning years of their lives in poverty & anonimity simply because the color of their skin did not allow them to play where they could have made a lot of money and could have supplemented their incomes with autograph shows as they grew to become senior citizens.
So I want to keep alive the history of casinos that existed our of necessity. Because the "luxurious" place on the strip weren't segregated. Places like Love's & Lee's & the Town Tavern couldn't hold a candle next to The Sands or The Desert Inn. They could be open one day and closed the next. And if it weren't for a few of their chips making it out into the chipping world, I probably wouldn't have the slightest idea they even existed.
I decided to start by trying to figure when the Town Tavern chips came out. I've noticed the records of James Campiglia & The Chip Rack seem to be the EXACT opposite of each other in a lot of different ways. So if I can get down to the bottom and correct the history, then I have done my part this week to help the chipping universe.
Thank you so much for your help Pam.
