year per member is just a few dollars short of the cost of an annual membership. This same on-line versus printed magazine discussion has been going on for several years. While the cost would be less to produce an on-line magazine, our membership would really drop as many, if not most, current members belong because of the club's printed magazine. Would we attract more new members if we offered an "on-line magazine only" reduced rate membership? I'm not so certain. The real issue is and has been how to get the word out that the exists or that there's even a hobby for casino collectibles.
As a reminder, the is a "Not-For-Profit" educational organization. While making a few dollars per year on the annual price of club membership is nice, that is not really our "mission". The magazines, the Museum of Gaming History, the convention seminars & DVD and even the convention banquet speakers help us fulfill our educational mission. We have been searching & continue to search for the most cost-effective way to reach as many collectors of casino memorabilia as possible -- THAT is the challenge.
