Not sure if this has been kicked around before so if it has I'm sorry. When we talk of increasing our membership and pulling in more people to our convention it seems that the hardest thing is making people aware of our event. As Steve Bedo has mentioned in an earlier post a very big obstacle is the sky-high price of advertising - anywhere on anything. It costs a small fortune for ads.
When we all descend on Las Vegas for the convention most of us come in days ahead of time. What if we had special T-Shirts printed up with info advertising the Convention. I don't mean like the Club Stuff available for sale on the Club Site. I mean HUGE Graphics - maybe printed both front and back:
FREE ADMISSION
HUGE CASINO COLLECTABLE SHOW
SOUTH POINT HOTEL
SAT - JUNE XX, 2014
9:00am - 4:00pm
SPONSORED BY CC>CC
WWW.CC>CC.COM
We could all be walking sandwich boards and answer any questions that people may ask upon seeing the advertisement.
I don't know much about having T-Shirts printed, but if the cost wasn't too outrageous they could probably be paid for by selling them to the members willing to wear them. As an example - If we only sold 50 shirts to members for $20 each - that would be $1000. It may not even cost the Club anything as the members would absorb the cost of the Shirt/Printing. I'm not sure, but if anyone knows about that kind of stuff they could chime in. When the show was over the members have a souvenir.
It might not be as wide-reaching as advertising in a magazine or something, but it would be something that might not cost the club much - and magazine ads can't answer questions and sell us up. Just thinking out loud.
Peace
Don
