Saturdays were free to get in & Fridays were a reduced fee ($5) versus Thursday ($10). This was done in the hopes of attracting more of the locals to come & see what the convention & the hobby is all about. We extended the hours on opening day (Thursday) in the hopes of also drawing in some local folks after work, but that didn't really help at all. We had about the same amount of walk-ins this past convention as we did the previous year, mostly helped by Saturday's free admission. The club's BoD has discussed everything from no admission fees at all, to coupons to, wooden nickels with discounts, etc...There just needs to be a balance in what our costs are to bring people in versus the income that the convention generates. It would be nice to take a half-page ad out in the Las Vegas Review Journal, or in one of those magazines that's in every hotel room or even radio spots -- but the cost to do any one of those is really outrageous.
I think that it's a great idea to put more minds together...the majority of the club's excellent ideas have come from members like yourself. Thanks again & hopefully, President Smith will see this & respond.
