I always use a card cover, usually a coin center chip. Sometimes it's the $500 Jockey Club, other times the $1 Desert Inn CIC that my wife asked Scotty Nguyen to autograph (he carries his own sharpie ).

Other players will ask to see the chip and I tell them about chip collecting but I have never had anyone ask how to get started or how to join People just don't seem to be interested.
