~~~ than only 50...!
There's a wealth of FACT in what he says about our hobby being in trouble and the lack of attention being paid to that fact....
As far as simply blowing it off on the economy -- NOT TRUE... as each and every one of us have not done enough (except those who give it their all to promote the hobby) to help pave the road for those who may be following us...
Westen, I suggest you bring this up at the CCGTCC Message Board in order to perhaps get some feedback as to what many of us who are interested can suggest what needs to be done in ways to help promote our hobby and clubs -- especially the CCGTCC.
In my opinion (as I've stated a hundred times), coin shows are the number one tool along with their publications. It's been done several times with well-writ articles on casino chips: Howdy Herz did a great piece in the Numistmatist as did R. Anthony Valvo. Those articles brought out chips from behind the woodwork that we never knew existed or have never actually seen; as did articles by Mark Lighterman in "FUN TOPICS" and the many other articles that were publishe in hobby magazines, in gereral, both here in the USA and UK, France and Belgium...
Yes, "...our hobby is in trouble" especially if we continue to not give it our all -- and to discuss all suggestions both here, on the club board and of course in our club magazine that reaches ALL CCGTCC members [which is limited to exposue compared to other, larger publication read by many, many more than just CCGTCC membership] of which I'm quite sure many are willing and able to take part in such tasks as so many others have done in the past.
The chip seen below came to me from across the pond by simply writing a small article in a UK hobby magazine about our hobby -- as did hundres that followed.
