like, if you like the history...

for Reno..."The Rise of the Biggest Little City" by Dwayne Kling. Dwayne spent many years living in Reno, working in the casinos. He spent many more years interviewing casino owners and employees, and researching casino history. For me, it's the "must have" Reno history book. The book lists each Reno Casino (most of them anyway), casino address, dates of operation, games they were licensed for, ownership changes, and often stories about the casino or an owner. It also has entries for many casino owners, with their stories. (I wish there was a book like this for Las Vegas...but I don't think there is sad )

for Las Vegas...The First 100--Portraits of the Men and Women who Shaped Las Vegas. I think this was published by the Las Vegas Review Journal, and for a long time you could find it on their website. Last time I tried to go to the site the link didn't work, so they may have taken it down. The book contains biographies of 100 people...some that you've heard of, some that you haven't. Many were casino owners, or were somehow involved in the casino history.

Both of these books were published several years ago, and may be had to find...but IMHO they're worth searching for! grin

Just checked...both available on Amazon grin
