I was an enthusiastic chipper, starting in 1998 (my wife thought I went overboard), and then had a quad bypass at the end of 2002. That slowed me down. And then grandchildren and other life events happened.
And then 2008 happened and, instead of having 35% equity in my home, I was 25% upside down.
So all of the reasons above make sense to me. But whenever I checked and saw how values had dropped, I was sad.
I will keep my Desert Inn and some other obsoletes because my wife and I went to the old casinos during our first Vegas trip together in January of 1994. I will keep my Stupak - my wife liked Stupak because they were both from Pittsburgh.
I just renewed my membership, happily, and enjoy reading here every day, especially since I recently retired.
Excuse the long winded post. I still like being a chipper. I'll sell some of my collection to consolidate.
