Couldn't agree more James & Frank
In Response To: Great band BTW vbg ()

When I worked in radio, I always found a way on the Fourth of July to play "Proud To Be An American" from their Young & Rich album. My Program Director used to bust my chops every year until the last year I was there, then he just gave up. "You know that's not a particularly positive song to play about the United States on our birthday" he used to say. "I know, that's why I only play it once a year." "But do you have to play it on the 4th of July?" "What, you prefer I play it when we invate another country, like Bosnia or Iraq?" "OK, good point." "Besides, I heard you play 'American Woman' this morning, and THAT sure isn't a positive song about our women, nor it is from an American band!" "OK, OK. Just as long as you stick to playing it once a year. I don't want to hear it any other time of the year."

I'm going to see Roger Hodgson (from Supertramp) this summer, so I can cross him off my list of people I've LONG wanted to see in concert. Now if I can see The Tubes. And hopefully, somebody comes out as Dr. Strangekiss (the disabled neo-Nazi who gets possessed by the ghost of Tom Jones) I will be extremely happy.

BTW, glad to see there are other chippers here who also enjoy my off-kilter little band. Good taste in music you guys have. And for those of you who aren't sure about them, or have never heard of them, I wish I could tell you to give them a try and I promise you will love them. The Tubes are, without a doubt, an acquired taste. The first time I heard their debut album, I swear they forgot to tune their instruments!! But the more I listened to them, the more I couldn't get enough. I suggest you work backwards. Try their early 80s albums first "Complete Backward Principle" & "Outside Inside". If you can handle them, and you find you really like them, THEN try the debut album. And if you hate them, that's OK. They aren't for everybody.
