Beldon Katleman (1914–1988) was a casino owner. From the late 1940s until it was destroyed by a fire in 1960, he owned and operated El Rancho Vegas, Las Vegas' first resort, hotel, and casino. In an effort to keep patrons in his casino, Katleman came up with the idea of the buffet in 1947. [1][2]
He married Leonore Cohn (later Mrs. Walter Annenberg) in about 1942 with whom he had one daughter named Diane. The couple eventually divorced and he never remarried. Lee was chatelain of Winfield House, U.S. Ambassador's residence during Mr. Annenberg's service as U.S. Ambassador (1969–1974). In 1981 she was briefly Chief of Protocol in Pres. Reagan's State Department. Lee died in November 2009, greatly beloved by her nieces and nephews.
