... unprofitable to mine silver. It has to do with the cost of labor and production expenses. Above ground silver is constantly being "recycled" for re-use in many products which causes price fluctuations when demand goes up and availability is down. The past few local coin shows I have attended, lots of dealers are offering to buy .999 fine silver, but very few are selling.

But... $140 is pretty high for 2 ounces of silver!
