This seems to be a random variation in the molds. Also I suggest trying the UV light on the two and see if they are the same or different batches.
I saved many variations of $1 chips from Red Lion because each time they order new chips, the UV markings change as well.
I still think the UV H&C on the chips is a date code for Paulson. The hats rotate and appear on different places on the chips. At the same time, the whole rack at a casino, when new, has all chips with the same rotation and position.
Then find a re-order chip mixed, one with sharp edges and much better looking, with the older chips and you find the UV markings have moved.
