Sorry, but I could not disagree more. Our President said 5 out of every 6 dollars generated by membership revenue goes to one place---publishing a magazine. If our business were just magazine publishing, it would be bad business.
There is a lot of filler in the magazine. Whole pages dedicated to Logo Usage Policy and Claims Forms, pages with unfilled space, etc. it should have been downsized years ago. We hear a lot about the financial burdens on the club. The magazine is a huge drain, and the cost to benefit ratio needs to be critically evaluated. Does it generate memberships? Revenues? I heard it raises our profile...what does /has that translated into, to the club's benefit? Someone convince me that it is justifying what we are spending on it, because I can't see it.
My problem is, in the context of the club, the magazine is a too expensive luxury, and the attitude that we cling on to publishing it exactly as it is may ultimately doom more than just the magazine.
