When I arrive at the airport and use a cab, I ask for the back road route to the Paris. Some are fine, some claim it is already too late to avoid the 'fast' route as they call it.

Those that claim too late and take the long way around get no tip and only paid once I have asked them to carry the cases to the bell captain. Those that take the quick route get a good tip and I carry the bags - so they get the same, but the conmen use more gas and time to get it. I'm on vacation, so happy to chill for a few extra minutes as the cab driver wastes his time and gas
